80AD The Sudarshana Book 4 eBook Aiki Flinthart Jason Seabaugh

I find myself entranced with this series. There are five episodes which I downloaded for free from Amazon. Phoenix n Jade along with their capanions r required to complete a task to advance to the next stage of the level in a supposed computer game called 80AD. The crux of the matter is this is not a game but an actually real life event. They r literally in the ancient world with mythical creatures, Gods, magic, Druids n Romans. There's always some sort of reference to an ancient fact in history but the way it is woven in the story is awesome. For those of u who like to expound that some of the facts depicted could not have happened at that point of time, I say "so what". This IS a fantasy!!!!
Jade n Phoenix r maturing n learning as they progress thru each level n rely more n more not only on each other but their wisdom n guidance of their companions to complete their assigned task to restore the balance of each level. In this level they have to return The Sudarshana to it's rightful owner. They can not fail or they may be stuck in the " game" or worse that Feng will destroy not only the ancient world but the modern world as well.

80AD The Sudarshana Book 4 eBook Aiki Flinthart Jason Seabaugh Reviews

Even for a teen orientated novel, I enjoyed this as an adult. The characters are lovable and realistic with petty complaints amongst peers. The folies encountered along the way are always lively and not dragged out. The plot is easy to follow but not boring in any way. I found this a pleasurable read between some of my more intense Mystery novels and some more complicated fictional reads. By having all books, I could pick the next episode as required and did not have any difficulty getting into the story line, it was as if I hadn't even read 3-5 books in between episodes which is sometimes a struggle to re-engage.
The five "80 AD" books/levels make up a complete story, so be sure to read all of them in order.

I really enjoyed reading these, both the gaming aspects and the historical aspects. They are written for young adults, but I think they can be good for people of any age. The history is from a period that I like, and what I checked was accurate.

Especially recommended for people who like F&SF, RPG's, D&D, SCA, etc. (translation of the acronyms if needed Fantasy & Science Fiction, Role Playing Games, Dungeons & Dragons, Society for Creative Anachronism)
Another great addition to the series! The action gets taken up a notch and pressure builds.
Tired and sore our heroine and hero end up in a cave and witness a battle between two warriors and snake men. Phoenix, always itching for a fight runs in to save the day. However they almost lose Jade to the entrapment of the giant snake god's mesmerizing gaze. They then discover that the warrior is a player from the outside, from home! They discover that they are somewhat famous for their exploits in all the game forums but again feel that time is running out for them. Can they trust this new player? Does he have unseen motives which may lead to their undoing? During this phase Jade really struggles with her insecurities which places a strain on her relationship with Phoenix. However the ever comforting Marcus lends a hand to even the balance between two opposing forces as they prepare to meet for battle and hopefully avoid a massacre.

I loved the way that Marcus took command in this book. It gave us a better chance to learn about him and see his relationships with the Jade and Phoenix.I would say that I kind of got a little tired of Jade's insecurity but considering the burden that she places on herself to be perfect for herself and for others I can understand her feelings. I guess it was uncomfortable because it resonated too much with real life. In the end things begin to work out.

Overall worth all the 5 stars. I recommend this as an enjoyable and exciting read!^^
One of the things that really impresses me about this series is that each novel that Aiki (hope I can use your first name) has put together is stronger than the one before it. The introduction of another player is a very important event. That gives someone for Jade and Phoenix to compare themselves to, and see clearly how they have grown and developed. While they don't notice it as much as you might expect, we certainly do. Very smart inclusion.

Marcus continues to have the best facial expressions.

Under 7K locations, so not too short or too long.

Highly, highly recommend. Grab before Aiki comes to her senses and starts charging, as she should.

I do have some quibbles about the Roman military tactics, as relayed by Jade. I wouldn't think that Marcus would put much stock in cavalry. The Romans didn't, until much later than 80 AD. Marcus would have believed in heavy infantry first, as the Romans had the best in the world. Cavalries were just auxiliaries. One Roman general triumped over the Parthians. What did he beat their cavalry with? Slingers with lead bullets. Regarding the siege engine use on the battlefied - again the Romans weren't big on that, but that one I can put to Marcus being a sharp cookie and using what he had. However, that has nothing to do with the plot or the quality of the writing. Of course, perhaps that was something done by the programmers....

I would put in my vote for Aiki to get rid of her other business, and write full time.

The ending makes a great deal of sense for a novel going to the last one of the series, but I didn't expect it to happen. Aiki hadn't done it yet, so it really did bush whack me. Very well done.

My last comment is I had better get some darn closure with Jade and Marcus. If I don't, there will be a riot in review of #5. Which I'm buying tonight. I'm not waiting for to make it free. Pfft on the $.99.
