In one month’s time, seventeen-year-old Cara Tillman will die and be reborn from her own ashes…
Her life of secrecy has never been easy. She’s watched her younger brother, Jeremy, burn and rise again in a coming-of-age process called rebirth. And just like her brother, when her time comes, she won’t remember anything from her first life other than she’s a Phoenix—a member of a small group of people descended from the mythical Phoenix bird.
The last thing she needs to worry about is falling for the new guy in town—Logan Schmidt.
Cara is drawn to Logan in a way she can’t explain, but she’s not exactly complaining. Everything is perfect…except it’s not. Once she’s reborn, she’ll forget Logan. And to make things worse, a Phoenix Hunter is on the loose, and Cara’s involvement with Logan is bringing out her Phoenix qualities—the very qualities that will draw the Hunter right to her.
Desperate times call for desperate measures…
Afraid of hurting Logan, Cara breaks it off for good. But her attraction to him runs deeper than a typical high school crush. She wants him—needs him. And if he proves willing to stay by her side, their love might destroy them both.
Can Cara hide from the Phoenix Hunters long enough to survive her rebirth? And if so, will it mean a new beginning with Logan—or the beginning of the end?
Into The Fire eBook Kelly Hashway
Cara and her family are phoenixes. In the beginning, Cara has to watch her brother Jeremy be reborn from ashes. After he’s consumed by fire, it’s as if he has amnesia. He remembers nothing, and Cara does her best helping him get by in life by coaching him on who’s who and what’s what. This is quite a shock to Cara…and the thing is she’s next in line. She’s going to be reborn soon. She falls hard for the new boy in her small town, New Yorker Logan. Cara tries to push him away, but the attraction is too deep. After she’s reborn, all the memories of what they shared will be gone. Another scary thing is there’s a Hunter in town, someone who kills phoenixes to gain their essence. After a friend and fellow phoenix is killed, Cara fears that she’s next because of her strong essence. Also, she’s been having difficulty keeping her powers under wraps around everyone.
This is a great paranormal story heavy on romance. Cara and Logan have fantastic chemistry. I loved the world of phoenixes and all the well-written rules about how they operate. There’s a lot of suspense involving the Hunter and Cara’s upcoming rebirth. The ending was amazing and I can’t wait to read what happens next.

Into The Fire eBook Kelly Hashway Reviews
Yes, Kelly has done it again. I love the way her characters are “reborn” and we get to go through the process with them. Have you read her other book, “The Monster Within?”
To be cliché, yes this is a page turner. To know you only have a month to enjoy life, and friends, as you know it/them has to be tough. Do you really ever know your friends?
This really is a good book. I like how it moves right along and has made the characters real. What I don't like is that it's not a stand alone book. Even in a series, books can stand alone as one among others. These are the reasons why I will rate it as a 8.
I really loved this book! Great start to a new compelling trilogy for all lovers of teen paranormal romance! Such a unique concept in a formulaic genre. Cara and Logan are a swoon worthy couple and fun to read. Five glittery stars and I can't wait to read the sequel!
I loved this concept of Phoenixes and hunters, rebirth and forgetting your first life. I really enjoyed this novel as it stands out from what (paranormal) books I normally read!
Full of Phoenixes, hunters, rebirth, a scorching romance, strength (because when a family member goes through a rebirth and comes back not knowing who you are, you will need strength and courage), bravery and secrecy.
Looking forward to reading the next book, Out of the Ashes!
Perfect for paranormal romance readers.
The phoenix aspect in this story is what caught my attention. I was curious how they would live within normal communities, what kind of powers they’d have, etc. Kelly Hashway did a good job giving us an idea of what makes being a phoenix different as well as how they hide in plain sight. I enjoyed learning about their powers as well as the mystery of the hunter. I was pretty sure I’d figured out who it was early-ish in the book, but there were enough misleading clues to make me stop and wonder.
Cara drove me a little crazy. I understand making dumb decisions when you’re really only putting yourself at risk, but she risked all the phoenixes and that kind of stuff drives me crazy. Other than that, I liked Cara and rooted for her all the way through and I liked all of the supporting characters too. The ending was a perfect carrot for the next book.
I've been wanting to read this title for a long time, because let's face it, phoenixes in the flesh? That's just too cool. The book opens up with some fabulous conflict, and I liked the characters and setting.
The plot was a bit slow for my taste, and it ended on a cliff hanger (grr...), but I liked it enough that I find myself mentally slipping back into the story world. Will I read on? It's very, very likely--and not because of the cliff hanger. *glares at author*
Content warning Closed door premarital sex, minor cussing.
Let the fire consume you, they say. Up in smoke, consumed by fire, and reborn from ashes... All these things are what a Phoenix has to go through 5 times in their life. Being a Phoenix is great, except for the hiding part. Well Cara Tillman is just figuring out that it's not at all cracked up what it's to be. She meets a new you, falls in love, even imprints... But now what? What'll happen after her rebirth? Well I guess you'll just have to figure it out!
I loved the simplicity of the read with the rare topic of Phoenix's! Hashway new what she had when writing this book. It goes off the ya book charts... With the real life and love thrown from it's pages.
Grab this well written, adventure infused, fiery book, today! You'll be glad you did!
