Although this book is a part of a Trilogy it can be read as a standalone. (I personally have not read the other two books either.)
One cannot help but love Uma's character, a strong girl who longs to fit into her tribe and follow in the path if her father as the healer even at the cost of her womanhood. When the Queen kidnaps her father to cure her fertility, Uma does not hesitate to plead to be taken too. With their tribe under threat, and their own lives at stake, Uma and her father work hard to do right.

Uma is strong but relatable in many ways, she too struggles with inner turmoil, low self esteem, fear of failure, and a multitude of emotions. It was enjoyable to watch her grow, and inspire others such as Jackrun. Jackrun is another enjoyable character with his fierce sense of right and wrong, the wild tempest within him, and strong loyalties. A truly great read, that keeps tensions high!

YA book, but I enjoyed it.
Is a very good trilogy and it helps to read the books in order. It is nice to find an author with good English skills. I hope she comes out with a fourth for this series.
Pricey but worth it. I like dragons with attitudes and female heroes and villains. A fun trip through a new land. Thanks
Be ready to soar with dragons as you fly a final time over and into the luscious world of Wilde Island and Dragon's Keep. Janet Lee Cary's word choice glimmers as beautifully as her will-o'-the-wisps, and her mystery deliciously taunts the reader through her pages. A gorgeous conclusion to the trilogy, ringing with sensitivity, compassion, and deep truth.

I have just finished reading In the Time of Dragon Moon. Janet Lee Carey is adept at bringing her characters to life. Her protagonists, Uma and Jackrun, are not perfect and this makes them all the more believable and able for me, the reader, to see them as real people. Even Queen Adela, her antagonist, is well-rounded and has moments in which it is impossible not to feel a little sorry for her. The motivations of her characters are clear and plausible. Janet backs Uma into many a corner where it is hard to believe she will make it out alive, and while she doesn’t always come out unscathed, she does survive. The romance between Uma and Jackrun is lovingly presented. Janet’s lyrical language makes their love all the more beautiful. Uma’s father has encouraged her to “Be present with what you are doing.” I loved this and find it helps me when my mind begins to wander during projects. In the Time of Dragon Moon is a lovely story. I strongly recommend it to readers who enjoy well-written fantasy novels.

I connected with it right away because of Uma (the main character) is a strong willed, smart, and kind hearted person who loves to help people through medicinal ways despite the fact she isn't allowed to do so in her village because of the fact that she is female. Following her through her story and the pain and heartache, as well as the love that she experiences is just amazing. Janet Lee Carey is wonderful at explaining details and I can easily imagine what she describes. She does an excellent job at capturing each characters emotion.
My favorite part about this is of course the romance (I'm a sucker for it). There are quite a few tender moments and I just adore each of them.

I HIGHLY recommend this book and I hope many people will enjoy it as much as I did.
